Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about how CarVerity.ai works, what the scores mean and how we handle your data.

Common questions

1What does the 0–100 reliability score actually mean?

The score is our view of how reliable a car appears based on MOT history, running-cost risk and age/mileage alignment. Higher scores indicate a lower observed risk of faults, but no score can guarantee that a car will never go wrong.

2Does CarVerity.ai use AI to decide the score?

No. The score comes from a deterministic scoring engine that analyses MOT outcomes, defect patterns, repair-cost data and age/mileage. We only use AI to generate a readable explanation of the result.

3Where does your data come from?

We use official DVSA MOT history, DVLA vehicle enquiry data where available, and our own aggregated repair-cost and claim-pattern datasets. Some vehicles may have limited data, in which case the score may be less representative or may not be generated.

4Does checking a car affect its MOT, tax or finance status?

No. Running a CarVerity.ai check is read-only. We do not change anything on the vehicle record, and your checks are not reported to lenders, insurers or government departments.

5Is this the same as an HPI or finance check?

No. CarVerity.ai focuses on reliability and running-cost risk, not finance, stolen markers or outstanding loans. You should still use a traditional history/finance check alongside any mechanical inspection.

6Can I save or download my reports?

Yes. If you create an account, we save your reports so you can revisit them later. You can also download a PDF copy or email the report to yourself from the results page.

7What is a bundle and how does it work?

A bundle lets you buy multiple reports in one go at a reduced price. When you purchase a bundle, we add prepaid credits to your account. You can then spend one credit per registration when you run future checks.

8Do you offer refunds?

Once a report has been successfully generated, it is usually non-refundable because the check has already been carried out. If there is a genuine technical problem and we cannot produce a report at all, please contact us and we will review the case.
